Something to
Think About

In Your Heart
If there is peace in your heart, you will find it impossible to hate.

If there is honesty in your heart, you will find it impossible to judge another.

If there is love in your heart then that is all there is.

Fear is gone, as is judgment and the desire for violence.

- Kim Hauenstein,
United Protestant
Campus Ministries,
Cleveland, OH

"And now, dear children, continue in Him, so that when He appears we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming."

1 John 2:28

OSL Youth Group at the LCMS Michigan District Senior High Youth Gathering
Mackinac Island - June 2011

Sunday Morning Bible Class
The OSL Youth Group meets Sunday mornings from 9:15 - 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Teens meet together to study God’s Word and how it applies to their lives. It is a great way to explore the tough questions about faith and life.

Don't be shy. Come and join us. We have a chair waiting here just for you! Whether you are a member or just visiting, we are glad you are here. Ask questions, join our events, share your name... we want to meet you and become friends. So, welcome! Our Savior's Youth Group strives to be a fun and safe place for all.

Youth Group Parent Meeting
We need to have 100% participation at this meeting on Sunday, May 19th immediately following service. It is VERY important that all parents or guardians of the youth that are going on this trip attend. We will be discussing more details of our National Youth Gathering trip and we will try to answer all your questions and concerns.

To get information on the event at any time go to (https://www.facebook.com/#!/LCMSYG). They do a really great job of posting updates.

Pop Can and Bottle Drive
Please save all of your ten cent deposit cans and bottles from your Memorial Day weekend festivities for the OSL Youth Group. On Saturday, June 1st, 2013, starting at 8:00 a.m., we will be driving around to several neighborhoods collecting the cans and bottles.

This is our last fund raiser and last chance to earn money for the LCMS 2013 National Youth Gathering trip. If anyone would like to help by driving kids around or by turning in the cans and bottles, please contact Angel Roberts as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

Youth Group Servant Event - Summer 2013
All youth group members and their parents are invited to join us on Sunday, June 23rd, following church service for our first, of hopefully many, community service events. We will be sanding, repairing and re-finishing the wheelchair ramp at Our Savior. Please contact Angel Roberts or the property board if you would like to donate supplies or materials, or if you would like to help with the project. The more the merrier.

OSL Junior Youth Group
We would like to start having meetings for the Middle School or Junior High kids (ages 11 to 13 --grades 6th through 8th) in addition to the meetings we have for the high schoolers. The meetings will likely take place during the Sunday school hour, which is the same time the regular Youth Group (14 to 20 year olds') meets --provided there is enough interest.

I will put a sign up sheet on the main bulletin board for Junior Youth Group members. Adult Volunteers for this group are needed and would be appreciated too.

LCMS Michigan District Junior High Youth Gathering 2013
Here is an event for our Junior Youth Group (youth entering grades 7-9 in the fall of 2013) in Ann Arbor, MI. If anyone is interested in venturing out on an awesome weekend of faith-building, faith-strengthening, and faith-sharing, please let me know.

The event runs from Friday, July 26, 2013 - 06:00 p.m. to Sunday, July 28, 2013 - 12:00 p.m. We can start making plans to attend now if there is enough interest.

Check out this web page for more information.

FUND RAISERS

Thanks for Your Support
Thank You for generous support of the Comfort Food Luncheon and Cupcake Wars in February and the Easter Breakfast in March. The Youth Group cannot put into words how much we appreciate all the ways the congregation of Our Savior supports its teenagers! Thank You!!

Youth Group T-shirts
We already have some great ideas and/or artwork/designs for our 2013 T-shirts. One of the ideas we talked about is posted on the Youth section of the bulletin board. We would like to sell these T-shirts as a fund raiser for $15 each. If you would like to buy one, please sign the interested sign-up sheet.

Cash for Cans
Summer is just around the corner and so is the National Youth Gathering. The OSL Youth Group respectfully asks that you please save your pop cans and bottles from your family get togethers and back yard parties for us. We are collecting these returnables as an ongoing fund-raiser. You can bring your bags of cans and bottles to church or we would be happy to pick them up from your home. Contact Angel Roberts for more information. Thank you for your support.
