Our Savior Lutheran Church would not be able to do all the wonderful things we do for our members, our neighbors and our community if it weren't for the dedication of our volunteers. These people offer their time and talents to benefit the community and this congregation in His name.
Volunteer opportunities are available for special events, on a weekly basis or just whenever you think you have time to spare. Please call your lay minister or the church office if you are interested in volunteering. The phone numbers can be found inside the front cover of the weekly bulletins.
We Need You
Our Savior is a busy place! It provides us all an opportunity to benefit from a variety of programs and services including spiritual development, personal growth, and community involvement.
We need YOU to give us a helping hand to make this happen!
YOU can make a difference.
Join Us for Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2015
VBS can seem like just another activity in our already busy lives. It is a lot of work to organize and present. But, there is a difference. Vacation Bible School, by teaching about the love of God in Jesus, is making an eternal difference. In fact, every year we have children attend VBS who don't know about Jesus, or who are just learning about Him.
This year's theme: “Gateway to Galilee – Amazing Grace Adventures!"
This year's dates: Friday, Aug. 7th, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 8th, 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
I encourage you to help make a difference through your prayers and volunteer help. Fill out a volunteer sheet at church or talk to Jan Krapohl or Jean Shipley. Please take time to sign up and help us share Jesus with others.
Mentors and Tutors Needed for 2015 Program
ROCK After School Learning is about to begin. Last year we served 40 children with the kindness and love of Jesus, our Savior. We thank God for you and for your help to “make a difference” in the lives of these children.
ROCK is an important part of our outreach ministry to neighborhood families. Success is evident in new relationships, growing trust, academic improvement, and return registrations.
New this year, is a move toward individualized assessment and grouping by skill level, rather than by grade level.
If you know of any additional volunteers, bring them with you; the more mentors we have, the more opportunities we will have to “make a difference” – academically, physically, socially, and spiritually – in the lives of at-risk children.
Whether you serve as a tutor or helper, you are God’s chosen ingredient for success. Thank you in advance for volunteering and sharing "the kindness and love of God our Savior" (Titus 3:4-5) with the children of our neighborhood.
Call the church office at (810) 789-1361 for more information.
We are looking for anyone who wants to show up to church a few minutes early each Sunday and pick up paper and other debris that has blown onto the Our Savior Lawn and into the parking lot. We also, need help on Thursday mornings, weeding the flower beds and doing other work around the church (inside and out). If this sounds like something you would enjoy doing, please contact the Board of Property.
Bricks and Steps Project
On November 10, 1926, our congregation was founded to serve the Lord as His Church. Our original building on Carpenter Road was out grown and in 1948 we dedicated our present building to God to serve Him in this place.
We ask for God's blessing on our place of worship and on His people at Our Savior. We thank all those who are now serving in the Lord's work here, and have served Him in the years past in His name and for His cause.
We’ve been a part of this neighborhood for over 80 years, and we will continue to be a part of Flint, but we need your help. We need your help to repair our building, to make it structurally sound and to restore it to its former beauty once again.
Please consider making a donation in any amount to the Our Savior bricks and steps project.

The Hat Lady
The Hat Lady has been knitting since last winter... making stocking caps in all colors and sizes. The hats are just $5 each. The proceeds from these cute covers support the "Show Me The Way" (Blind Ministry). However, if you know someone in need and you don't have the means, we will gladly give you one for free. Thank you for your support.

Habitat for Humanity
Genesee County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry, affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International, but controlled locally. It is made up of people who volunteer their time and work to provide decent, affordable homes for persons who could not otherwise afford to buy a home. Habitat is financed through donations of money and materials. Houses are sold at no profit, and no interest, typically over a 20 year period.
Contact Wayne Bailey or the church office for more information on how members and friends or Our Savior Lutheran Church can help with a Habitat for Humanity project.
